Projects
The following is a list of projects, either personal or schooling related. Following the links will lead to a page with the final documentation or images of results.
Orbit Determination of an Uncertain Satellite -
Given initial uncertain spacecraft state and set of range/range-rate measurements from three ground stations, developed dynamics and measurement model to be passed to an Extended Kalman Filter. Linked is final report detailing models implemented and resulting residuals from data.
Low-Thrust Optimization through Automatic Differentiation -
Implementing the Sims-Flanagan model of low-thrust, employed finite dimension optimization to converge to an optimal transfer between two states, minimizing a cost function. Gradients of cost function found through Automatic Differentiation of code to produce faster derivatives than through finite differentiation or complex differentiation.
Voyager III PDR Spacecraft Design Proposal -
Lead a team of 6 students to design a spacecraft to deliver a telescope capable of imaging an exoplanet from 550 AU away from Earth within 60 years.
Broad Trajectory Search Algorithm -
Utilizing the Monte Carlo Tree Search method of grid searching, an algorithm was developed to efficiently sample the n-dimensional search space of multi-flyby trajectory mission. Methods and preliminary results were published in an AIAA/AAS conference proceedings (Publication Link).
FAR 1030 Rocket Competition Team -
Achieved 1st place out of 4 teams, including San Diego State University and University of Central Florida, in competition by launching to 24,000 feet on a student build & researched rocket.
Attitude Control System Design of a Momentum Bias Satellite -
Designed linear control system to stabilize a single axis reaction wheel spacecraft in a gravity gradient environment. MATLAB and Simulink were used to model system dynamics and tune the PD controller.
Arduino-Based Electronic Flight Instrument System -
Integrated magnetometer, pressure transducer, and gyro into Arduino to intake data of the EFIS’s state. Using Simulink, a readout of the instrument data was displayed on aircraft instrument dials.
